Mixbus, eine leistungsstarke DAW, kombiniert analoge Klangästhetik mit umfangreichen Fernsteuerungsmöglichkeiten über das OSC-Protokoll. Mein für das iPad Air entwickeltes TouchOSC-Layout ermöglicht die Steuerung von Mischpultfunktionen sowie Aufnahme- und Wiedergabeoptionen über fünf schnell wechselbare Panels. Während die OSC-Unterstützung in Mixbus 7 noch einige Mängel aufwies, bietet die aktuelle Version Mixbus 10 deutlich zuverlässigere Steuerungsfunktionen.

Mein aktuelles Layout ist vollständig kompatibel mit Mixbus 10 und bietet eine präzise Fernbedienung ohne zusätzliche Software. Das Layout und die Dokumentation sind auf GitHub verfügbar und können individuell angepasst werden.

Due to the modernization of my living room sound system I had the wish to replace my old Raspberry Pi 2 B (2015) with the promising Odroid-N2 from Hardkernel.

Because even though the sound board Hifiberry DAC+ for the Raspberry Pi turns the small computer into an excellent analog network player, which reproduces even high-resolution stereo audio (24bit/96K) in the best way, the Raspi gets difficulties, if film material and multichannel sound are to be played together or if your source is surround HD-audio.

For pure stereo playback, the N2 offers a 3,5mm headphone jack line output, powered by high resolution (384Khz/32bit) DA converters.

This article describes a way to get the headphone out on the front side of Apple's MacPro 1,1 from August 2006 up and running. In February 2014 this enhancement had been integrated in upcoming stable kernel release 3.14. If you use a recent kernel it might happen that your MacPro's headphone out at last is working. Accessing icloud calendar data from within Thunderbird with the help of the Lightning add-on is feasible. The easiest way is to get the relevant code numbers out of Icloud's online version by using Firefox tools and transfer the codes to Thunderbird.

After recent inconveniences with Apples OSX updates, I'm no longer convinced that the system's own backup solution truly is the best method to backup a mac.

But still i trust Apple's routine.

Since emerge of OSX 10.7.5 on 4th of Octobre 2012 backup works also with recently published Netatalk 3.0. The configuration of Netatalk changed for the most part and should be outlined here, briefly.

The server-based backup solution with BackupPC still should be trouble-free even though i don't have an eye on it. That's because of our old MacMini runs smoothly with linux.

Automatic configuration of my several years(!!) old printer still doesn't work perfectly. So after an update the printer settings in cups had been changed and I could hardly find any solutions on the internet. So it might be useful to remember the following.

My MacBookPro's inability to bring back the wifi connection to my home net (AVM FritzBox 7270 Modem/Router) after wake-up has been due to MacOs Lion's security update 10.7.4 distributed on May, 10th.
